Batur Caldera Trekking

Caldera is a wide crater made from spectacular eruption. Batur was a highest peak in Bali but since the first eruption 29,300 years ago, it made few calderas.

First is about 13 km wide and the second is about 8 km wide. Mt. Batur is in the middle of the both caldera. The easy trekking called Batur Caldera Trekking.


The Trekking starts from Pura Hulundanu, Desa Songan and hike up through caldera slope to Bubung Gede, Banjar Alenglong. From here you can see beautiful view of Mt. Batur, Lake Batur, Mt. Abang, Mt. Agung. Ocean at the east, Mt. Rinjani on Lombok island, beautiful sunrise and the area of the agriculture and beautiful scenery.

The best trekking is to see sunrise in the morning. We may start from  trekking starting point at around 4.30 am. So we must start from hotel as bellows:

1. From Ubud, start at 3.00 am.
2. From Sanur, start at 2.30 am.
3. From Kuta, Seminyak and Nusa Dua, start at 2.00 am.
4. From Candidasa, start at 2.30 am.
5. From Lovina, start at 2.00 am

It is very good exercise and you will see beautiful view of the real Bali, why you don't do once.
